Hornets host Sonics

02.8.2006

(Basketball News) - The Seattle SuperSonics attempt to put the brakes on a three-game losing streak when they visit the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets tonight at the Ford Center.

Seattle plays the finale of a four-game road trip. On Monday, rookie Raymond Felton scored a career-high 24 points, as the Charlotte Bobcats defeated the SuperSonics, 119-106, on their homecourt.

Ray Allen led the SuperSonics with 31 points and six rebounds in the loss to Charlotte. Rashard Lewis finished with 22 points and Luke Ridnour recorded 18 points and nine assists for Seattle, which has lost five of its last seven games overall.

The SuperSonics are just 8-16 as the visitor this season. They have lost eight of their last 10 on the road.

New Orleans/Oklahoma City tries to get back on the winning track as it opens a brief two-game homestand. On Monday, Richard Jefferson had 26 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to lead the New Jersey Nets past the Hornets, 99-91, at Continental Airlines Arena.

Rookie phenom Chris Paul finished with six points, seven rebounds and 13 assists in the loss to New Jersey for the Hornets. Speedy Claxton netted 23 and Rasual Butler added a season-high 18 points for New Orleans/Oklahoma City, which had a four-game winning streak halted.

The Hornets, who will welcome the New York Knicks on Friday to the Ford Center, are 15-8 as the host this season. They have won three in a row on their homecourt.

This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On November 26th, David West had 21 points to lead a balanced attack, as the Hornets downed Seattle, 105-99, at KeyArena.

Seattle has still won nine of 13 and 10 of the last 16 meetings in this series. The SuperSonics have won two straight after losing their last two at the Hornets.
