(Basketball News) - The Houston Rockets were denied their fourth straight win on Monday when they were on the wrong end of a 95-91 decision against the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena.
Maurice Taylor paced Houston with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Cuttino Mobley had 14 points and Yao Ming chipped in 12 for the Rockets, who fell to 10-3 on the road against Eastern Conference teams.
Yao was coming off a career-high, 37-point performance against Orlando on Sunday.
Houston was clinging to a one-point lead early in the third quarter, before Miami went on an 18-8 spurt to grab a 67-58 advantage with 3:43 left in the period.
Eddie Jones’ three-pointer in the final minute of the stanza increased the Heat’s lead to 74-63 and Miami continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter.
The Rockets eventually fell behind by 18 at 90-72 and got no closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Houston will return to action on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.
