Jazz welcome Clippers to Delta Center

12.5.2003

Salt Lake City, UT (Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz hope to continue their dominance at home tonight when they welcome the Los Angeles Clippers to the Delta Center for a Western Conference showdown.

The Jazz have won four in a row at home and are an impressive 9-1 as the host this season. Utah has also dominated the Clippers at home, winning 27 of its last 28 against LA.

Utah comes into tonight’s game off a tough road loss in Houston. The Jazz fell in overtime to the Rockets, 107-101, Wednesday at the Toyota Center.

The Jazz had five double-digit scorers with Matt Harpring and Andrei Kirilenko each leading the way with 19. Aleksandar Pavlovic added 18 while Raul Lopez scored 16 for the Jazz, whose four-game winning streak was snapped.

Utah guard DeShawn Stevenson (flu) is day-to-day, while guard Raul Lopez (leg) is probable for tonight’s game.

The Clippers are fresh off winning their second in a row on Wednesday. Quentin Richardson poured in 25 points and Corey Maggette added 22 to lead the Clippers to a 90-80 win over the road- challenged Cleveland Cavaliers at the Staples Center.

Clippers rookie Chris Kaman outperformed No. 1 pick LeBron James Wednesday, as he outscored the Cavaliers’ phenom by a 14-4 margin. Kaman also grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds for LA.

LA is 2-4 as the visitor this season.

In 2002-03, the Jazz won three of the four games between the two squads. LA’s only victory over Utah was 96-89 win at the Delta Center on January 22nd.

Overall, Utah has won two straight and 17 of the last 18 meetings with the Clippers, who have lost their last three road games.
