Kidd was joined on the sideline by Kenyon Martin, who has been battling left knee tendinitis. New Jersey recorded its third-lowest point total of the season and its lowest ever scoring output against the Knicks.
Kidd was placed on the injured list prior to the game as he continues to be hampered by a bone bruise on his left knee. He will be out for at least four more games, the next coming on Sunday when the Nets host Dallas.
In 62 games this season, Kidd is averaging 16.0 points, a league-leading 9.5 assists and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
Kidd has missed a total of five contests this season, the first on November 22 (sore left knee) and then four straight in early March because of the current injury.
Meanwhile, the club activated swingman Tamar Slay from the injured list. Slay had been sidelined with a groin injury.
