Knicks go for fourth straight win against struggling Pacers

04.10.2006

(Basketball News) - The New York Knicks go for their fourth straight win when they visit the struggling Indiana Pacers tonight at Conseco Fieldhouse.

Indiana is No. 7 in the Eastern Conference playoff race and is one-half game behind the sixth-seeded Milwaukee Bucks. The Pacers are just one game ahead of Chicago and Philadelphia.

On Sunday, Tayshaun Prince finished with 17 points to lead a balanced Detroit attack as the Pistons routed Indiana, 98-73, at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Stephen Jackson registered 15 points in the loss to New York for the Pacers, who have dropped seven of their last eight games overall.

The Pacers begin a three-game homestand this evening. They will host Boston on Wednesday and Minnesota on Friday. Indiana is 23-14 at home this season.

The Knicks play the middle contest of a three-game road trip. On Sunday, Jamal Crawford poured in 31 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as the Knicks dominated the fourth quarter to score a 101-86 victory over the Celtics at TD Banknorth Garden.

Rookie Nate Robinson finished with 12 points and Jackie Butler recorded 10 points for New York, which has won three straight games on the heels of a nine-game skid.

New York is 7-30 on the road this season. The Knicks will visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena.

The Knicks have won two of the three meetings between the clubs this season. The teams split a pair of games at Madison Square Garden, while New York beat the Pacers, 107-92, on March 7th at Conseco Fieldhouse.

New York, which has won two straight and three of the last four contests in this series, has won two straight after losing its last eight at Indiana.
