LeBron diagnosed with pleurisy

10.14.2005

Cleveland, OH (Basketball News) - Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward LeBron James has been diagnosed with pleurisy after spending two nights in a Cleveland hospital.

The Cavaliers said James entered the Cleveland Clinic on Wednesday night because of pain in his chest. Hospital tests later revealed that James was suffering from pleurisy, an inflammation of the thin layers of tissue covering the lungs and chest cavity.

James didn’t play in Tuesday’s preseason game against Boston in Pittsburgh because of the ailment and will also miss Friday’s exhibition game versus Philadelphia. However, James is taking antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication and the team expects him to make a quick, full recovery.

The 20-year-old James is entering his third season in the NBA. The first overall pick in the 2003 draft has averaged 24.1 points, 6.6 assists and 6.4 rebounds in 159 career games.
