LeBron out for Sonics game

01.20.2004

Cleveland, OH (Basketball News) - Cleveland rookie superstar LeBron James is expected to miss the first game of his young NBA career when the Cavaliers host the Seattle SuperSonics on Tuesday night.

James is hampered with a sprained right ankle and could return for Thursday’s game against the Sacramento Kings. James leads the team in scoring with 20.4 points per contest.

The 19-year-old Akron, Ohio native suffered an ankle sprain when he came down awkwardly on his right foot after going up for a layup late in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 102-96 overtime win at Utah.

Meanwhile, the Cavs will be without center Zydrunas Ilgauskas, who was suspended by the league for one game for throwing a punch at Jazz center Greg Ostertag.

James and Ilgauskas account for more than one-third of Cleveland’s scoring.

According to head coach Paul Silas, Darius Miles was fined by the team for oversleeping and missing Monday’s practice.
