Los Angeles Lakers Team Report - January 13 01.13.2004
|
(Basketball News) - Gary Payton and Brian Cook each scored 13 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to an 89-79 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday at Staples Center.
The news was not all good, though, for Los Angeles, as guard Kobe Bryant left the game with an injury to his surgically repaired right shoulder. Bryant will undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
Devean George contributed 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Lakers, who won for just the third time in nine games.
Bryant, whose status for Wednesday’s game against Denver is uncertain, joins Karl Malone (knee) and Shaquille O’Neal (calf) on the sidelines. O’Neal, though, could return on Wednesday, while Malone could miss another two-to- three weeks.
Los Angeles, which improved to 17-2 at home this season, has won five straight at home against the Cavs.
