Magic rolling along at season’s end 04.2.2006

With no playoffs in sight, the Magic have nothing to play for except pride and maybe a few giggles. They certainly had some laughs on Friday when they sent the highly-touted Dallas Mavericks packing with a 108-99 win at TD Waterhouse Centre.
Jameer Nelson scored 27 points and Hedo Turkoglu added 25 for the Magic, who handed Dallas its third straight loss and stirred up confusion in the Western Conference standings. Dallas and San Antonio are battling for the top spot.
The Magic have now won five of their last six contests overall and seven in a row at TD Waterhouse Centre. They are also 1-0 on three-game homestand with games versus Milwaukee and Detroit on the slate.
Orlando, which is 10-11 since dealing disgruntled guard Steve Francis to the New York Knicks, almost blew an 18-point lead against the Mavs but held on to improve to 29-44 on the season.
Jameer Nelson and Dwight Howard are the leaders of the team, but will not spark any playoff run this season. The Magic are five games behind Philadelphia for the eighth and final spot in the East.
