Mavs’ Christie retires 11.25.2005

Christie was officially waived by the Mavericks as the two sides apparently came to a contract buyout agreement. Christie had signed a one-year deal worth a reported $3.15 million guaranteed with Dallas in the offseason.
Christie started the first seven games for the Mavs this season before his left ankle started bothering him to the point where he could not play. Last year, he missed 24 games with bone spurs in that same ankle.
He averaged 3.7 points and 2.0 assists with Dallas. In his 14-year career, Christie averaged 11.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.89 steals per game. In addition to the Mavs, he played for the Lakers, Knicks, Raptors, Kings and Magic.
He made a name for himself with Sacramento when he was named to the NBA’s All- Defensive Second Team three times (2000-01, 2001-02, 2003-04) and First Team once (2002-03).
