(Basketball News) - Kevin Garnett posted 22 points and six rebounds to lead Minnesota over Washington, 91-73, on Friday at the Target Center.
Wally Szczerbiak added 20 points for the Timberwolves, who still hold a 1 1/2 game advantage over the defending champion San Antonio Spurs in the Midwest Division. The Spurs defeated the Jazz in Salt Lake City on Friday.
Minnesota, which extended its franchise record by winning its 53rd game of the year, has won four in a row and seven of its last nine contests.
Elsewhere on the milestone front, Garnett reached the 20-point mark for the 6rdd time this season to extend his team record.
Minnesota, which will wrap up a three-game homestand on Sunday against Memphis, has won four straight and five of its last six at home and is 29-10 in its arena this season.
The Timberwolves have split their two matchups with Memphis this season and have won 17 of 19 and 27 of the last 30 meetings. Minnesota is also an impressive 15-2 all-time at home in this series.
