(Basketball News) - The Minnesota Timberwolves visit the Orlando Magic on Friday at TD Waterhouse Centre. It will be the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs.
Orlando won the first meeting of the season between these teams, 87-80, at the Target Center on Jan. 12. The Timberwolves have won four of seven and six of the last 10 meetings overall. Minnesota has dropped 11 of its last 13 trips to Orlando.
Minnesota saw a three-game win streak come to an end on Thursday night, falling 107-90 to the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena. Kevin Garnett had 22 points and 19 boards for the Timberwolves in the defeat.
Troy Hudson added 20 points in Thursday’s loss for Minnesota, which lost for just the fourth time in 10 games. Trenton Hassell registered 16 points and Wally Szczerbiak added 10 points in the defeat.
The Timberwolves shot 47 percent from the field, including 3-of-4 (.750) from three-point range. Minnesota drained 11-of-15 (.733) from the charity stripe. The T’Wolves were outrebounded, 43-36, while committing 17 miscues.
On the injury front, center Michael Olowokandi (hyperextended right knee) and guard Sam Cassell (hamstring) are questionable for Friday’s game. Cassell has missed five straight contests, while Olowokandi has been on the sidelines for seven straight games.
Minnesota slipped to 10th in the Western Conference, one game behind Denver and the Los Angeles Lakers for the final playoff slot. The Timberwolves have lost 12 of their last 19 games overall.
The Timberwolves, who are closing out a short two-game tour of the Sunshine State on Friday, are 13-17 on the road this season. Minnesota hs dropped six of its last eight road tilts.
Garnett leads the Timberwolves in scoring (22.3 ppg) and rebounding (13.8) and is tied with Cassell for the team lead in assists (5.6 apg). He has scored in double-digits in all 62 of Minnesota’s games this season and has registered 52 double-doubles.
