(Basketball News) - Kevin Garnett collected 30 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves over the Los Angeles Clippers, 103-91, on Saturday at the Target Center.
Sam Cassell posted 18 points and eight assists for the Timberwolves, who won their third straight game for the first time this season.
The Timberwolves scored 10 unanswered points in the first quarter and they led the rest of the way. Cassell completed the burst on a three-pointer with 5:38 left in the frame to give Minnesota a 19-10 advantage.
The Timberwolves would go on to end the quarter on a 9-2 spurt, capped off by two Latrell Sprewell free throws, en route to taking a commanding 34-19 edge into the second.
The Clippers outscored the Timberwolves 22-20 in the second and then 29-26 in the third, but never seriously threatened.
The Timberwolves only turned the ball over seven times and led by as many as 20.
Minnesota, which has won five of the last six meetings, also shot well from the field at 52 percent.
The Timberwolves are off until Tuesday when they play at Indiana.
