It was the third consecutive year that the league has set a new high water mark in attendance.
This season’s average attendance of 17,757 fans per game bested the 2005-06 record of 17,558 fans per game, while the new total attendance record of 21,841,480 eclipsed the previous record of 21,595,804 established in 2005-06.
Overall this season, NBA arenas were filled to 92.3 percent capacity and there were 600 recorded sellouts, the most in over a decade.
"We are grateful for our fans’ continued support," said NBA commissioner David Stern. "The third straight year of record attendance reflects the NBA’s ever- increasing popularity, as the worlds greatest athletes continue to display the passion and dedication they bring to this great game."
