Chris Wilcox also had a solid performance, scoring 20 points to go along with 10 rebounds and six assists. Earl Watson added 19 points and eight assists for Seattle, which has won three consecutive games for the first time since early December.
"We were just out there having fun, playing, executing, running the plays and everything else was just falling for us," Wilcox said. "I was trying to be a playmaker tonight, getting everybody involved."
Allen went 4-of-6 from beyond the arc and moved into second place on the all- time three-pointers made list with 1,723, passing Dale Ellis by four. Reggie Miller is first with 2,560.
Nick Collison tallied 13 points off the bench. Luke Ridnour ended with 10 points, seven boards and six assists, while Damien Wilkins also netted 10 points in the victory.
Juan Dixon led the Trail Blazers with 28 points, while Sebastian Telfair contributed 15 points and six assists. Theo Ratliff scored 14 points for Portland, which has lost 16 of its last 18 contests. Zach Randolph tallied 13 points, while Darius Miles chipped in 10 points in the setback.
"We can blame turnovers and defense and you can blame Ray Allen also," Telfair said. "He hit shots like I can’t even explain."
The Trail Blazers dominated the early stages of the first quarter, but the Supersonics battled back with a 12-6 spurt to close out the opening frame down just 29-26. The first six points in the second frame went to Seattle, as the team controlled the second quarter en route a 58-52 halftime advantage.
Seattle continued its solid play over Portland throughout the third stanza and closed out the quarter with a 14-4 run. The Sonics went into the final frame with a 15-point lead and although Portland battled throughout the fourth quarter, the Trail Blazers were unable to stop Seattle’s offense.
Game Notes
Both teams shot well from the field, as Seattle connected on 56.0 percent of its shots from the floor, while Portland posted a 51.9 percent shooting effort...Portland won the battle in the paint, 54-40, but the Sonics outrebounded the Trail Blazers, 42-30...The Sonics played without Rashard Lewis, who was suspended for one game after pleading guilty to reckless driving.
