Avery Johnson Fired

04.30.2008 - Updated on 04.30.2008

The Dallas Mavericks fired coach Avery Johnson on Wednesday, the first of what’s likely to be many offseason moves after the league’s highest payroll produced a second straight first-round knockout from the playoffs.

ESPN.com’s Marc Stein first reported the news of Johnson’s ouster.

NBA front offices sources told ESPN.com that both the Mavs and Johnson, feeling that a coaching change was inevitable, wanted to come to a resolution quickly so Dallas could begin interviewing other candidates and Johnson could pursue another job. [ESPN]

I dont think he was happy in dallas. I mean everytime they show a close up of him he’s froening or yelling or mad. What’s his problem good coach though they should not have fired him. He manages the players minutes and calls plays its not his fault if the players don’t play or give it there all .

Wow Its not his fault that they thought that Jason Kidd was a better fit than Devin Harris. To me the trade did not make sense why would you trade a verstile quick player in Devin Harris for Jason Kidd? For Example Kidd could not guard Paul but Harris could Kidd can’t guard Tony Parker and Harris did a better job. Sad 2 say Dallas isn’t a Finals Contender any more and firing Avery just makes there problems worse. .
