Charlottesville, VA (Basketball News) - J.R. Reynolds scored 11 points to guide the Virginia Cavaliers to a 61-50 win over the Clemson Tigers in Atlantic Coast Conference action from University Hall.
Devin Smith and Donte Minter each added 10 points for Virginia (12-4, 2-3 ACC), which won its second game in a row.
Chris Hobbs netted 13 points to lead Clemson (8-8, 1-4), which has lost two straight outings and four of its last five.
The first half was closely contested throughout, as the teams traded leads before entering the break tied at 20-20.
After struggling from the field in the opening stanza, Virginia shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half to claim the 11-point victory.
The Cavaliers made 44.7 percent of their field-goal attempts in the contest, while Clemson shot just 31.6 percent. The Tigers made just 2-of-18 attempts from beyond the arc and were guilty of 23 turnovers.
Clemson did win the rebounding battle, 41-31, led by Sharrod Ford’s nine boards.
