NCAA Game Summary - Michigan at Michigan State

East Lansing, MI (Basketball News) - Paul Davis poured in 22 points to lead the Michigan State Spartans past the Michigan Wolverines, 71-54, in a Big Ten Conference battle from the Breslin Center.

Maurice Ager added nine points and a team-high eight rebounds for Michigan State (7-7, 2-1 Big Ten), which picked up its second straight win.

Michigan (10-4, 1-2) was paced by Daniel Horton, who netted 20 points while hitting 5-of-9 from three-point range. J.C. Mathis grabbed eight boards, but the Wolverines were outrebounded 32-26.

Michigan held a 19-18 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the first half, but Michigan State closed the period with a 14-4 run to take a 32-23 advantage at the break.

The Spartans blistered the nets with 66.7 percent shooting from the field in the second half to easily secure the 17-point win.

Michigan, which suffered its second consecutive loss, struggled from the floor with just 36.2 percent shooting for the game. By contrast, Michigan State drained 54.8 percent of its field-goal attempts.
