Milwaukee, WI (Basketball News) - Brandon Cotton had a game-high 19 points in leading the third-seeded Detroit Titans to a 61-48 victory over the sixth- seeded Wright State Raiders in the second round of the Horizon League Tournament from the U.S. Cellular Center.
James Thues had 11 points for the Titans (13-15), who shot 53.2 percent from the field and won the battle on the boards, 31-23.
DaShaun Wood paced the Raiders (15-15) in defeat with 15 points, while Jaron Taylor posted 10 points in a reserve role.
The Titans made just 1-of-6 three-point attempts in the first half of play, but still held a 26-25 advantage headed into the break.
Detroit converted 11-of-14 shots taken from the foul line in the second stanza, allowing it to pull away for the 13-point victory.
The Raiders made just 35 percent of their field goal attempts and only 4-of-16 three-pointers, while also turning the ball over 10 costly times.
The Titans now advance to the semifinal round and will have to take on second- seeded Wisconsin-Green Bay tomorrow.
