NBA Game Summary - Golden State at Atlanta

Atlanta, GA (Basketball News) - Joe Johnson had a career-high 42 points and added nine assists and six rebounds as the Atlanta Hawks upended the Golden State Warriors, 113-106, at Philips Arena.

Al Harrington added 21 points and seven rebounds and Marvin Williams added 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Hawks, who stopped a small two- game slide.

Zaza Pachulia had 11 points and 10 rebounds, his 14th double-double of the season, for Atlanta, which snapped a seven-game losing streak against Golden State.

Jason Richardson poured in 42 points and added seven rebounds and Mike Dunleavy added 13 points and six boards for the Warriors, who have lost three straight and seven of their last eight contests.

The Warriors started out the final quarter with a layup by Adonal Foyle to take a 82-79 lead on their first possession.

However, the Hawks scored nine straight points and took the lead for good. During the spurt, Harrington hit a free throw and soon after, Josh Smith hit a shot from the charity stripe to complete a three-point play to build the Hawks lead to 88-82 with 6:30 left in the game.

Golden State scored the next three points to get back to within three, 88-85, but Atlanta responded with a 9-3 burst and had a comfortable 97-88 lead after Harrington put in a layup with 2:40 left.

The Warriors got as close as five, but that was with under 10 seconds remaining as the Hawks gave the home crowd the win.

The game was tight early on, but with the score tied at 16 apiece, the Warriors went on a 12-0 run and had a 28-16 lead on the strength of a Richardson trey with 2:18 left. The Warriors had a 32-24 advantage going into the second quarter.

Golden State continued to lead in the second quarter, but Atlanta did not let the game get out of control and ended the first half with a strong run to get close. Mickael Pietrus slammed the ball home to give Golden State a 52-40 lead with 3:13 left. However, Atlanta closed out the half with a 12-2 spurt, including a Smith bank-shot three-pointer at the buzzer, as Atlanta trailed 54-52 going into the locker room.

The Hawks came out strong to start the third quarter and briefly took the lead when Harrington nailed a three-pointer to give his squad a 57-56 lead a little over a minute in.

It remained a tight contest throughout the rest of the third quarter. The Warriors held a four-point lead a couple of times in the quarter, but the Hawks kept coming back. Richardson hit a free-throw to finish a three-point play that gave Golden State a slim 80-79 advantage going into the final 12 minutes.

Golden State continues its five-game road trip at Charlotte on Wednesday...The Hawks are off until Saturday when they will host the Bulls...Smith finished with 12 points and nine boards...Pietrus had 10 points...Golden State shot 44.2 percent from the floor...The Hawks connected on 45.7 percent of their shots...Atlanta won the battle of the boards, 49-41.
