Honolulu, HI (Basketball News) - Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, including 24 in the first half, to pace the Los Angeles Lakers past the Golden State Warriors, 101-93, in a preseason game at the Stan Sheriff Center in Hawaii.
Lamar Odom was the only other Laker to score in double figures and got nine of his 16 points in the final 2:10 to help seal the LA win in Phil Jackson’s first game back with his former team.
Jackson spent five years with Los Angeles and posted a 287-123 regular-season record while guiding the team to three NBA titles before parting ways following the 2003-04 season. However, after being away from the game since June 15, 2004 when the Lakers lost to Detroit in the NBA Finals, he returned to coach the club this past offseason.
Baron Davis had 17 points and added seven assists while Jason Richardson tallied 14 points for the Warriors, who blew an early 16-point lead.
