NBA Game Summary - New York at Seattle

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Jamal Crawford poured in 19 of his season-high 31 points in the fourth quarter to lead New York to a 104-101 come-from-behind victory over Seattle at KeyArena.

All of Crawford’s points came during the second half, as the Knicks rallied from a 13-point deficit early in the third quarter to halt a two-game slide. The Seattle native went 8-of-13 from the floor, including 4-of-4 from three- point range, after halftime and made 11-of-12 foul shots for the night.

"It was great to come home, but it was even bigger to win the game," said Crawford. "We knew that if we played hard, played good defense and hung in there, we would have a chance to win."

Channing Frye contributed 18 points off the bench on 6-of-8 shooting for New York, which won for just the third time in 11 road outings this season. Stephon Marbury added 16 points and eight assists to the winning effort.

Ray Allen had 25 points, 16 of which came in the second half, but made just 9- of-28 field goals for Seattle, which had a three-game win streak end. Vladimir Radmanovic delivered 23 points and made 5-of-7 three-point attempts, while Rashard Lewis dropped in 18 in defeat.

The Knicks trailed 61-48 five minutes into the second half before embarking on their comeback spree. Crawford started a 9-2 run with a three-pointer and New York trimmed the lead to 63-57 on Frye’s outside jumper with 4:07 to go in the third quarter.

New York continued to chip away and closed within 72-71 with another 9-2 burst over the final 1:31 of the third. A Frye jump shot to start the final quarter gave the visitors their first lead of the night.

The Knicks were ahead 85-80 with 5:35 to play, but a Radmanovic three followed by Allen’s jumper drew the Sonics even. A 9-1 run ending with Crawford’s three-pointer put New York up 94-86 with 2:36 left, but Seattle scored seven of the next nine points and closed within three on an Allen basket and free throw one minute later.

The Sonics continued to creep closer after another Radmanovic triple trimmed New York’s edge to 98-96 with 1:07 to go. Two Crawford free throws put the Knicks up 102-98 with 22 seconds left, but Radmanovic struck again from long distance to make it a one-point game.

Crawford was then fouled again and hit both attempts from the line, and New York survived when Allen’s three-point try in the closing seconds missed the mark.

"My teammates moved the ball and found me in the fourth quarter," Crawford remarked.

Seattle took control of the contest early on, as a 12-2 run midway through the first quarter turned a tie game into a 20-12 lead with under five minutes to go in the frame. A Lewis three-pointer began the surge and Allen capped it with his only basket of the opening period, which was also a three.

The SuperSonics maintained a 10-point cushion at 27-17 after the first 12 minutes, and the margin later grew to 13 when Radmanovic buried a three- pointer six minutes into the second quarter to make the score 40-27.

New York eventually closed within eight after Jerome James’ three-point play with a minute remaining before intermission. Lewis ended the half by making 1- of-2 foul shots to put Seattle up 50-41 at the break.
