Blazers pound short-fused Warriors

03.11.2007

Portland, OR (Basketball News) - Brandon Roy scored 26 points and Zach Randolph had 25 points and 13 rebounds as Portland used a strong third quarter to romp Golden State, 106-87.

Ime Udoka added 15 points for the Trail Blazers, who ended a seven-game losing streak to Golden State.

Al Harrington had 16 points and seven rebounds while Jason Richardson had 14 points and five assists for the Warriors, who saw their three-game winning streak come to an end.

Golden State’s volatile guard Stephen Jackson, angry after committing a turnover, threw the ball in the direction of an official in the third quarter and was promptly ejected. On top of that, Baron Davis, the Warriors’ leading scorer, was a late scratch from the game with a knee injury.

Leading by seven at halftime, the Trail Blazers exploded in the third quarter to win going away.

Golden State got within two early in the quarter and after a Monta Ellis three brought the Warriors within 62-59, Portland ripped off 16 straight points, capped by a Udoka three, to grab a 78-59 advantage with just over five minutes to play.

A pair of Travis Outlaw free throws gave Portland a 23-point lead and the Trail Blazers carried a 87-66 lead into the fourth quarter. Golden State never threatened in the final period as Portland coasted to the victory.

Portland led 27-25 after the opening 12 minutes before taking a 52-45 lead into the locker room.

Game Notes

Ellis and Matt Barnes finished with 11 points apiece for the Warriors...Golden State is a dismal 7-26 on the road this season.
