Blazers target fourth straight win with Raptors in town

01.18.2006

(Basketball News) - The Portland Trail Blazers take aim at their season-best fourth straight win when they continue an eight-game homestand against the Toronto Raptors at the Rose Garden.

On Sunday, Zach Randolph scored 16 points and hit two key free throws with 47 seconds remaining as Portland edged slumping Cleveland, 89-87.

Ruben Patterson compiled 16 points and seven rebounds while rookie Jarrett Jack contributed 11 points off the bench to help the Trail Blazers, whose streak comes on the heels of a six-game slide.

A win tonight would give the Blazers their first four-game run since March 10-16, 2004.

Juan Dixon had 10 points in the win and has reached double figures in each of his last 14 games. The streak is the second longest overall for a Trail Blazer this season, as forward Darius Miles scored in double digits in all 15 games he played before going down with a knee injury.

Portland, which will conclude this stand with visits from Dallas, Denver and New Jersey, is 8-10 in their building this season.

Toronto, meanwhile, comes in on a losing note after falling to the Utah Jazz, 111-98, on Tuesday at the Delta Center. Chris Bosh netted 27 points while Jalen Rose chipped in 16 for the Raptors, who had a two-game winning streak halted.

Mike James added 15 points in the setback.

Toronto, which is in the midst of a five-game road trip, is 7-12 away from home this season.

The Blazers split their two matchups with the Raps, but could have an advantage tonight, as the home team in this series has won five straight meetings.
