01.10.2007

(Basketball News) - The Charlotte Bobcats resume a three-game road trip when they battle the Detroit Pistons this evening at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Charlotte has lost two straight and suffered a 106-74 loss to the Orlando Magic in the opener of the trek last Friday. Matt Carroll had a team-high 19 points off the bench, while Raymond Felton added 11 points and seven assists for the Bobcats, who are 3-12 as the visitor this season.

The Bobcats, who will wrap up the road trip this Friday at New York, are 10 1/2 games off the lead in the Southeast Division.

On the injury front for Charlotte, forward Gerald Wallace (separated right shoulder) is expected to miss tonight’s contest. He has missed two straight contests. Wallace is averaging 13.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Detroit has won two of its last three games, including Tuesday’s 98-89 triumph over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.

Tayshaun Prince scored a career-high 33 points to lead Detroit, which is a game off the Central Division lead. Richard Hamilton added 22 points and Ronald Murray recorded 12 points and 12 assists in the win for the Pistons.

The Pistons will return home where they have lost two straight and own a 9-5 record.

The 2006-07 season series between Charlotte and Detroit is tied at a game apiece. The Bobcats snapped a five-game losing streak in the series with a 97-89 win in Charlotte on December 3, 2006.

Detroit has won six of the nine all-time meetings with the Bobcats, who have lost all four trips to The Palace of Auburn Hills.
