The Bobcats have won three straight and continued the streak with Monday’s 98-91 victory over the New York Knicks.
Jake Voskuhl tallied 17 points and nine boards and Melvin Ely had 12 points for the Bobcats, who have won four of five. Matt Carroll rounded out the double-figure scorers for Charlotte, which improved to 25-56 with just one game remaining in the season.
Bobcats leading scorer Gerald Wallace (bruised ribs) and Brevin Knight (groin strain) could miss Wednesday’s tilt with the 76ers. Charlotte is 16-24 as the host this season after finishing with a 9-32 road mark.
Meanwhile, the 76ers ended a two-game losing streak with Tuesday’s 91-88 victory over the New Jersey Nets at the Wachovia Center.
Sixers stars Allen Iverson and Chris Webber showed up late for the game, but were not expected to play anyway because of injuries. However, players are supposed to show up 90 minutes before tip-off and the duo did not.
Head coach Maurice Cheeks and Sixers general manager Billy King noted that Iverson and Webber will be fined for their actions. Iverson and Webber didn’t sit on the bench in street attire with their teammates.
Andre Iguodala scored a career-high 27 points and dished out eight assists in the pair’s absence, while Steven Hunter tallied 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the win.
The Sixers finished the season with a 23-18 record at the Wachovia Center and will carry a 15-25 road mark into Wednesday’s battle at Charlotte Bobcats Arena.
Charlotte leads the season series 2-1 with Philadelphia.
