Bobcats no longer feeling the Rush, release guard

04.1.2006

Charlotte, NC (Basketball News) - The Charlotte Bobcats have released guard Kareem Rush, the club announced on Saturday.

The four-year player appeared in 47 games with the Bobcats this season, averaging 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. However, Rush has missed 23 games this season because of injury.

"The Bobcats are about two things — hard work and maximum effort," Charlotte general manager and head coach Bernie Bickerstaff said. "With that in mind, we think that it is best to go in a different direction with Kareem."

Rush had an injury-plagued tenure in Charlotte since the club acquired him from the Los Angeles Lakers in December of 2004. He averaged 11.5 points in 34 games during the 2004-05 season, but missed the last 27 games of that campaign because of a left knee MCL sprain.
