Bosh and Bargnani lead Toronto past Memphis

03.7.2007

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - Chris Bosh tallied 19 points and Andrea Bargnani donated 18, as Toronto built a large lead en route to a 94-87 victory over Memphis.

Juan Dixon scored 17 points in his second start with the Raptors and Jose Calderon added 11 points and nine assists. Toronto snapped a three-game skid with the victory.

Mike Miller scored 19 points and Rudy Gay totaled 17 points and a career-high 11 boards for Memphis, which has dropped five straight contests.

Pau Gasol compiled 16 points in the loss.

Memphis jumped out to a 10-0 edge capped by Miller’s triple, but Toronto outscored it 25-10 the rest of the period. A pair of T.J. Ford baskets sandwiched Dixon’s runner and Joey Graham converted a finger roll for the final eight points of the stanza.

The lead grew to 49-33 in the second on Dixon’s mid-range jumper, and Toronto held a 49-38 advantage at the half.

Toronto led 75-59 after three stanzas then quickly pushed the edge even higher early in the fourth. Bosh’s layup followed by Bargnani’s jumper gave the Raptors a 92-67 lead with 7:08 left.

Garbage time followed and Memphis went on a 20-2 run to end the game. Bosh’s turnaround with 6:08 to play counted for Toronto’s final points, but the lead was large enough to survive.

Game Notes

Toronto extended its league record for three-pointers in consecutive games. The Raptors have made a three in 676 straight games...Gay has two double- doubles on the season...Memphis is 2-10 on the road since January 1....The game featured just one lead change and zero ties...Attendance was 16,940...Stromile Swift, despite flu-like symptoms, played just under five minutes for Memphis but didn’t score.
