Milwaukee begins a four-game road trip tonight. On Saturday, Maurice Williams made a desperation three-point basket as time expired to give the Bucks a thrilling 103-102 victory over the Indiana Pacers at the Bradley Center. Williams scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half, while Michael Redd netted 28 for the Bucks, who never led at any point until Williams’ 30-footer at the buzzer.
With the Pacers up 101-100, Indiana’s Fred Jones went to the foul line with seven seconds left to play and hit the first shot before his second missed the mark. Jermaine O’Neal got the offensive rebound but couldn’t convert, and Milwaukee’s Bobby Simmons grabbed the carom and kicked it out to Williams, who dribbled up the court and let fly a long jumper that swished through the net.
Lightning quick guard T.J. Ford had 19 points and nine assists to help the Bucks defeat the Pacers and improve to 4-1 on the young season.
The Bucks are also scheduled to visit the Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings and Utah Jazz on the current road swing. Milwaukee is a perfect 2-0 on the road this season.
The Clippers, who return home after going 2-2 on a four-game road trip, will try and get back on the winning track tonight. All-Star Allen Iverson scored 28 points and dished out 10 assists to lead the Philadelphia 76ers over the Clippers, 113-108, on Sunday at the Wachovia Center.
Elton Brand led all scorers with 32 points and Cuttino Mobley netted 23 in the loss to the Sixers for the Clippers, who have not won in Philadelphia since March 10, 1996. They have lost nine straight in the City of Brotherly Love. Corey Maggette had 20 points versus the 76ers for Los Angeles, which had a two-game win streak snapped.
The Clippers will be the visitors on Friday when they meet Kobe Bryant and the Lakers at the Staples Center.
