Bulls, Rockets clash at United Center

01.8.2007

(Basketball News) - The Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets meet for the second and final time this season, as the teams battle tonight at the United Center.

On November 16th, All-Star Tracy McGrady posted 21 points and 11 rebounds as the Rockets held on for a 101-100 win over Chicago at the Toyota Center.

Houston has won three straight after losing its last two at Chicago. The Rockets have won two in a row and seven of the last eight contests in this series.

Chicago is fresh off a solid victory. Luol Deng scored 30 points and pulled down seven rebounds as the Bulls crushed Central Division-rival Detroit, 106-89, on Saturday at the United Center.

Ben Gordon finished with 23 points off the bench in the win over the Pistons for the Bulls, who snapped a 12-game skid against the Pistons in the Windy City. The last time Chicago beat Detroit at home was on January 22, 2000.

Andres Nocioni ended with 21 points in the victory for the Bulls, while former Piston Ben Wallace, who signed a lucrative, multi-year contract with Chicago during last offseason, had 12 points and a game-high 14 boards against his ex- teammates.

The Bulls are an impressive 15-3 at home this season. They will visit Gilbert Arenas and the Washington Wizards on Wednesday at the Verizon Center.

Houston wraps up a brief two-game road trip. On Sunday, Kevin Garnett had 26 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Rockets, 103-99, in overtime at the Target Center.

McGrady scored a game-high 31 points in the win over Minnesota for the Rockets, while Shane Battier poured in 20 points for Houston, which had a five-game winning streak halted.

The Rockets are 9-10 on the road this season. They return home to host Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday at the Toyota Center.
