Jackson, who was chosen by Cleveland with the 10th overall pick in this past draft, has battled back problems all year. Jackson first injured his back during the summer and the pain has recently worsened to the point where he has been diagnosed with a herniated disc.
The 23-year-old, who was plagued by various injuries and stints on the IL during his first pro campaign, averaged 2.9 points in only 10 games.
The 6-foot-7 Jackson played four seasons for the University of Oregon and led the team in scoring and rebounding in both his junior and senior campaigns. In 2003-04, he averaged 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists over 31 contests.
