Celtics start road trip in Utah

02.21.2006

(Basketball News) - The Boston Celtics open a four-game road trip tonight, as they visit the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center in both teams first game back from the All-Star break.

Boston will try and get back on the winning track this evening. On February 15th, LeBron James recorded his eighth career triple-double, with 43 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists to out duel Paul Pierce and lead the Cleveland Cavaliers past the Celtics in a 113-109 double overtime thriller at TD Banknorth Garden.

Pierce led the Celtics with a career-high 50 points before fouling out deep in the second overtime. Pierce also collected seven rebounds and eight assists for Boston, which lost for the first time in three games.

The Celtics, who have lost seven in a row on the road, are 4-20 as the visitor this season. They will also visit Phoenix, Portland and the Lakers on the current swing.

Utah will try and halt a two-game losing streak. On February 13th, All-Star Kobe Bryant poured in 23 points on 6-of-20 shooting from the field, as the Lakers defeated the Jazz, 94-88, at the Staples Center.

Devin Brown netted a career-high 25 points in the loss to the Lakers for the Jazz, who have lost three of their last five games overall. Mehmet Okur added a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in defeat.

Andrei Kirilenko struggled for Utah against the Lakers, scoring 10 points on 2-of-12 shooting from the field.

The Jazz are 13-12 as the host this season. They have won three in a row at the Delta Center.

This is the second and final meeting of the season between the clubs. On December 21st, Pierce poured in 30 points to lead the Celtics to a 101-89 victory over Utah at TD Banknorth Garden.

Boston has won three straight and four of the last five meetings in this series. The Celtics have won two straight after losing their last three at Utah.
