(Basketball News) - Greg Buckner poured in a career-high 28 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 110-82 victory over the Dallas Mavericks at the Pepsi Center.
Carmelo Anthony contributed 21 points, six boards and six assists for Denver, which has won three in a row. Kenyon Martin collected 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who overcame a 17-point deficit in the first half.
Also Earl Boykins, who became the shortest player in league history to record 30 points in a game, set a career-high with six rebounds.
The Nuggets were clinging to a four-point lead with just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter. Denver then scored 19 of the final 26 points of the period to take a commanding 86-70 lead after 36 minutes. Earl Boykins, Bryon Russell and Buckner all hit three-pointers during the decisive run.
The Nuggets continued to pour it on in the fourth quarter, building the margin to as many as 30 points at 110-80 on Rodney White’s jumper in the closing seconds.
Martin has recorded a double-double in three straight games.
The Nuggets beat the Mavericks on Sunday despite committing 19 turnovers and missing 10 of 32 free throws.
Denver returns to action on Tuesday against the New Jersey Nets.
