07.26.2006

Toronto, ON (Basketball News) - The Toronto Raptors announced on Wednesday that they have signed free-agent guard Fred Jones to a multi-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Jones joins the Raptors after spending his first four years in the league with Indiana. The 6-2, 220-pound Jones was the 14th overall selection by the Pacers in the 2002 NBA Draft.

The University of Oregon product averaged 9.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists last season for the Pacers.

For his career, the 27-year-old Jones owns career averages of 7.7 points, 2.2 assists and 2.2 rebounds.

"Fred Jones addresses our goal of infusing even more talent and athleticism to our revamped team," said Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo. "He will benefit greatly from the up-tempo style we intend to play."
