Iverson again out with injured ankle

01.31.2006

Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Philadelphia 76ers All-Star guard Allen Iverson will not play in Tuesday game against the Phoenix Suns with a sprained left ankle.

Iverson has also missed the team’s past two games, a 91-76 win over the New York Knicks this past Saturday and a 89-81 victory over the Orlando Magic on Sunday.

The 30-year-old Iverson, who is second in the NBA in scoring with an average of 33.6 points per game, was hurt in the fourth quarter of the team’s overtime loss against the Orlando on January 26.

Iverson stepped awkwardly on the Magic’s Dwight Howard and immediately hobbled to the bench in pain. The superstar guard did return to play, but was in obvious discomfort the rest of the way.

His replacement, Kevin Ollie, has 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists in Philadelphia’s two wins since the injury.
