Jazz go for third straight win in City of Brotherly Love

On Monday, Mehmet Okur scored 19 points and gathered 13 rebounds as the Jazz held on to beat the Washington Wizards, 97-89, at the MCI Center. Andrei Kirilenko added 17 points, seven boards, four assists and four steals for Utah, which has won seven of its last eight contests.

Matt Harpring contributed 12 points and Deron Williams had 10 off the bench in the win.

As a team, Utah dished out 28 assists despite not having a player with more than five. However, Devin Brown, who had zero, was the only one of the Jazz 10 participants who did not have at least two dimes.

Utah has flourished since the return of Kirilenko, who missed 10 games with a sprained ankle and back spasms.

Kirilenko, who is tied for the league lead in blocks per game (3.2), is also averaging 14.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists. With him in the starting lineup, the Jazz are 14-5 and just 4-12 with him either out with injury or coming off the bench.

Utah, which will close a four-game road trip tonight, is 10-9 away from home this season.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, comes in on a winning note after Allen Iverson went over the 40-point mark for the eighth time this season with 41, leading the Sixers to a 107-98 win over Seattle at the Wachovia Center.

Iverson also had nine assists and seven rebounds, while John Salmons added 18 points for the Sixers, who ended a two-game losing streak. Kyle Korver netted 17 points and Andre Iguodala had 16, as the Sixers played without star forward Chris Webber, who was sidelined with a back strain.

All five starters scored in double-figures for Philadelphia, is 6-0 when that happens.

Webber, who is averaging 19.4 points and 10.3 rebounds in 32 games this season, is questionable for tonight’s affair.

The Sixers, who will close a three-game homestand against Boston on Friday, are 11-5 in their arena this season.

Philadelphia lost to the Jazz earlier in the season and has dropped four of the last five and seven of the last nine matchups. Utah has also won two straight, four of its last five and six of its last eight in the City of Brotherly Love.
