Jazz still have a chance

(Basketball News) - The Utah Jazz are 32-37 and are a distant seven games behind the division-leading Denver Nuggets in the Northwest. However, they trail the eighth-seeded Sacramento Kings by just 2 1/2 for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.

Utah is scheduled to play six of its final 13 games this season at the Delta Center.

The Jazz closeout a four-game homestand on Monday, as they host the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, who are just one-half games ahead of Utah in the playoff race, at the Delta Center. It is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. In the two previous contests, both clubs picked up a win on the road. These teams have split the last four contests at Utah.

The Hornets are scheduled to host the Jazz on April 14th in the fourth and final contest of the campaign between the squads.

Utah has loss two straight and is 1-2 on its current homestand. On Saturday, Mike Bibby finished with 24 points and eight assists as the Sacramento Kings edged the Jazz, 91-89, at the Delta Center.

Andrei Kirilenko posted a triple-double with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks in the loss to the Kings for Utah, which has lost six of its last eight games overall. Carlos Boozer registered a team-high 19 points and pulled down 16 boards, while Devin Brown netted 17 off the bench in defeat.

The Jazz are 17-18 at home this season.

Kirilenko, who is averaging 15.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, has scored in double-digits in six straight games. He is averaging 18.8 points and 9.8 boards in that span.
