Jazz, Warriors meet in Oakland

02.27.2006

(Basketball News) - The Golden State Warriors attempt to halt a three-game losing streak when they welcome the Utah Jazz tonight to The Arena in Oakland.

Golden State, which opens a three-game homestand, returns home after going winless on a three-game road trip. On Saturday, Nazr Mohammed posted 15 points and 14 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs downed the Warriors, 92-75, at the AT&T Center.

Monta Ellis scored a career-high 16 points in the loss to the Spurs for the Warriors, who have lost six of their last eight games overall. Troy Murphy registered 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Derek Fisher scored 11 points, and Jason Richardson netted 10 in defeat.

The Warriors are 15-14 as the host this season. They will host Orlando on Wednesday and the Lakers on Friday. Golden State has won three of its last four at The Arena.

Utah will also try and get back on the winning track this evening. Rookie phenom Chris Paul netted 23 points and dished out eight assists as the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets edged the Jazz, 100-95, on Saturday in the back end of a home-and-home series at the Delta Center.

Mehmet Okur led the Jazz with 26 points and six rebounds in the loss to the Hornets. Carlos Boozer ended with 15 points, while Deron Williams netted 14 for Utah, which has dropped four of its last five games overall.

The Jazz are 13-15 on the road this season.

This is the third meeting of the season between the clubs. In the two previous contests, both clubs picked up a win on the road.

The home team has won nine of the last 13 contests in this series, while the Warriors have won three of the last four. Utah has won two of its last three at Golden State.

Utah will host the Warriors on April 19th in the fourth and final meeting of the campaign between the squads.
