Jefferson’s absence taking toll on Nets 01.14.2006

However, getting a win tonight might be a tall task for the Nets who have dropped 10 in a row and 12 of the last 18 to the Mavs. New Jersey has also struggled in Dallas, where it has lost five straight and is only 5-11 in the last 16 visits.
New Jersey’s last win over the Mavs came back on March 2, 2000.
The Nets come into tonight’s tilt on the heels of an 81-69 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday at FedEx Forum. They had won 10 in a row prior to their latest slide.
Vince Carter scored 14 points and Jason Kidd added 10 points and 11 rebounds for New Jersey, which shot 34.7 percent from the floor.
New Jersey’s skid coincides with the absence of Richard Jefferson, who missed his second straight game on Friday with back spasms and is questionable for tonight’s affair.
Carter has also struggled with Jefferson out of the lineup. In his last two games Carter is averaging just 24.0 points after scoring 33.5-per-game during the team’s 10-game run.
The Nets, who are in the midst of a stretch that sees them play six of seven on the road, are 9-8 away from home this season.
