The Kings’ latest setback came on Tuesday, as they were upended by LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 102-97. Shareef Abdur-Rahim netted 25 points for the Kings, who have dropped five of seven and have lost three straight at home for the first time since April of 2000.
Bonzi Wells had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and Mike Bibby tallied 16 points in the loss. Each of Sacramento’s starters finished in double-digits, but the team was unable to keep up with James and company down the stretch.
The Kings, who head to Seattle following tonight’s tilt, are 6-6 in their building this season.
Houston, meanwhile, comes in on a winning note after Tracy McGrady tied a season-high with 35 points, as the Rockets beat the Boston Celtics, 91-73, at the Toyota Center.
McGrady, who was playing in just his third game since returning from a back injury, was sharp, shooting 14-of-20 from the floor while adding seven rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals.
On the injury front, guard Jon Barry left the game with a calf injury. Barry, who was returning from a bruised foot, stayed in Houston, but could join the club over the weekend.
Houston, which will be starting a six-game road trip tonight, is 2-6 away from home this season.
The Rockets topped the Kings earlier in the season and has won the last two meetings. Houston, which has dropped seven of the last 10 overall meetings, has struggled in Sacramento, where they have dropped 11 of 12.
