(Basketball News) - The Dallas Mavericks (55-19) trail the defending world champion San Antonio Spurs by 2 1/2 for first place in the Southwest Division and the top spot in the Western Conference.

They will split their final eight games evenly between home and the road. Dallas will visit San Antonio, the Clippers, Golden State and Phoenix.

The Mavericks final four home contests are against Sacramento, the Hornets, Utah and the Clippers.

Dallas and the Spurs will square off on April 7th at the AT&T Center. The Mavericks are 1-2 against San Antonio this season.

On Tuesday, the Kings try to win their fourth straight game when they visit the Mavericks at American Airlines Center. Sacramento is No. 8 in the Western Conference playoff race. It is 1 1/2 games behind the seventh-seeded Los Angeles Lakers and two games ahead of No. 9 New Orleans/Oklahoma City.

It is the third and final meeting of the season between the Kings and Mavericks. In the previous two contests, the teams split a pair of games at ARCO Arena.

Sacramento has lost four straight after winning its last two at Dallas.

On Sunday, All-Star Dirk Nowitzki poured in 30 points and pulled down 12 rebounds and Jason Terry netted 21, as Dallas got back on the winning track with a 103-79 victory over the Denver Nuggets at American Airlines Center.
