(Basketball News) - Damon Jones hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 21 seconds left and Dwyane Wade scored 14 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, as the Miami Heat recorded a 98-93 win over the Washington Wizards at the MCI Center.
Jones scored 23 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 5-of-12 from three-point range, for the Heat, who have notched a season-high six straight wins. Wade, playing with an injured left ankle, also recorded nine assists, as Miami swept a home-and-home from Washington.
Wade was injured early in the third quarter of Monday’s 106-83 win in Miami, but Shaquille O’Neal picked up the pace with 40 points in the rout. In this contest, it was Wade picking it up for an ineffective O’Neal. The guard scored 20 points in the second half and sparked a late 12-4 run.
O’Neal fouled out late in the fourth, finishing with just 13 points and 12 rebounds. He shot only 1-of-8 from the free throw line.
Miami returns to action on Friday versus the Denver Nuggets.
