|
(Basketball News) - The Miami Heat dropped their third straight game on Tuesday, as they were dealt an 89-86 setback at the hands of the Toronto Raptors at AmericanAirlines Arena.
Lamar Odom scored 23 points and hauled down 14 rebounds to lead the Heat in both categories, while Eddie Jones chipped in with 18 points, all in the first half. Brian Grant added 12 points and seven rebounds, as Miami lost its fourth straight.
Jones hit on 8-of-9 shooting in the first half, but was held scoreless in the second and missed all four of his shots.
Miami was outscored 11-8 over the final 12 minutes, and the 19 combined points marked the lowest fourth-quarter output in the history of the NBA since the inception of the shot clock. The Heat’s eight points set a new season-low for points in a quarter.
The Heat fall to 6-13 without the services of rookie guard Dwayne Wade, who missed the contest with a sprained right foot. He is expected to miss a week.
Miami will return to action on Thursday when they host the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat, who will play the second leg of a four-game homestand tomorrow, have won three of their last five at home and is 17-12 in South Florida this season.
The Heat have already lost twice this season to the Bucks and have lost five straight in the series. Miami, though, has won four of the last seven meetings in South Florida.
