Mutombo and Lenard earn Player of the Week honors 12.1.2003

Mutombo helped the Knicks to a 3-1 record last week by notching a double- double (points/rebounds) in each of the club’s three wins. Mutombo also averaged 3.25 blocks per contest and had a season-high five blocks on November 29 against New Orleans to go along with his 13 points and 12 boards in the 79-74 win.
Lenard led the Nuggets to a 3-0 record for the week. He averaged 21.3 points per game and was an impressive 10-of-19 (.526) from the three-point arc. He poured in a game-high 26 points with four rebounds and a steal in a 98-86 triumph over the Clippers on November 29.
Other candidates for Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Detroit’s Richard Hamilton, Golden State’s Nick Van Exel, Indiana’s Jermaine O’Neal, the Lakers’ Karl Malone, Miami’s Eddie Jones, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Philadelphia’s Allen Iverson and Sacramento’s Brad Miller.
