Abdur-Rahim has elbow surgery

Portland, OR (Basketball News) - Portland Trail Blazers forward Shareef Abdur- Rahim underwent successful surgery Wednesday on his right elbow.

Abdur-Rahim, 28, is averaging 15.7 points and 8.0 rebounds in 23 games this season. He has not played since January 2.

The Trail Blazers acquired Abdur-Rahim in a trade with Atlanta. He was selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies in the first round (third pick overall) of the 1996 NBA Draft before being traded to the Hawks.
