Anthony, Nuggets edge Warriors

Anthony was 12-of-18 from the floor for the Nuggets, who won their third straight contest. Andre Miller added a double-double with 17 points and 10 assists while Marcus Camby had 14 points and 16 boards.

"Towards the end of the fourth quarter we ran out of gas," Denver coach George Karl said. "I think a lot of their success was due to our failures. I though we were beating ourselves. It’s Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday,, so I am not going to complain about it."

Jason Richardson scored 24 points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished out six assists for the Warriors, who lost their second straight and wrapped up a seven-game homestand at 5-2. Baron Davis and Mickael Pietrus each contributed 21 points and Troy Murphy had 17.

In an up and down fourth quarter, the Warriors found themselves down three with just 1.5 seconds to work with. Richardson inbounded the ball to Mike Dunleavy, who lifted a hurried turnaround three from deep on the left wing. The ball was on-line but went long and Denver managed to escape with the win.

"We had a mediocre performance against a deep team and we still found a way to be in it at the end, which is all we could ask for," Warriors coach Don Nelson said. "It is extremely difficult to get those open threes when the defense knows that is the shot that you need."

The Warriors were behind 10 points entering the fourth but quickly cut the lead to four, 93-89, with 10:33 left when Pietrus opened the stanza with six consecutive points.

Over the next two minutes, the Nuggets responded with a 7-0 run, capped by an uncontested Yakhouba Diawara slam to extend the lead to double-digits again, 100-89,

But, Golden State failed to give in. The Warriors scored 13 of the game’s next 15 points to knot things at 102. Murphy’s jumper capped the flurry and ignited the crowd with about 5 1/2 minutes left.

Denver withstood things again and seemed to put the game away with a 10-2 run. Miller highlighted the run by finding Camby on an alley-oop and then finished it by sticking a jumper from the left wing to make it 112-104.

The Warriors had one last gasp in them. Richardson drilled a three and Pietrus followed with a conventional three-point play to make it a one possession game, 115-112, with 37 ticks left.

Anthony was then whistled for an offensive foul and Golden State had a chance to even things. But, Pietrus missed a three from the right corner and, after an offensive rebound, Monta Ellis missed another bomb from the left wing.

The Nuggets failed to put it away again when Miller missed two free throws but Dunleavy missed his three and Denver managed to hang on.

The Nuggets raced out to a 34-26 advantage after the opening 12 minutes but the Warriors drew to within three, 61-58, with a solid second quarter.

Denver bounced back with a 32-point third quarter and took a double-digit lead, 93-83, into the final frame.

Denver will now host the Warriors on Friday at the Pepsi Center...The Warriors are 6-3 as the host this season...The Nuggets are 4-2 on the road this season...Andris Biedrins of the Warriors had a career-high seven blocks in the game.
