Philadelphia, PA (Basketball News) - Othella Harrington scored a season-high 24 points and Ben Gordon netted 22 to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 94-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at the Wachovia Center.
Kirk Hinrich collected 21 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for the Bulls, who halted a four-game losing streak. Antonio Davis added 11 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
"I thought our intensity the whole game was great. I thought we had a great defensive game," said Bulls coach Scott Skiles.
Allen Iverson led the Sixers with 31 points and seven assists, but he also committed 11 turnovers. Samuel Dalembert notched 16 points and 17 rebounds before fouling out and Marc Jackson chipped in 11 points and 12 boards.
The Sixers played without forward Chris Webber, who was forced to sit out with a peroneal neuropathy in his left leg. He is listed as day-to-day.
"When somebody gets injured you just have to win basketball games," said Sixers coach Jim O’Brien. "You have to win with what you have and we did not do that."
Philadelphia held a 71-67 edge after three quarters and the teams would battle for the lead until the final buzzer. The Bulls opened the fourth with a 12-2 surge to grab a 79-73 advantage, but the Sixers answered with a 9-2 stretch to grab a one-point lead. However, Chicago took the lead for good at 84-82 on Gordon’s three-pointer with 4:31 left.
The Sixers cut the lead to 86-85 after Aaron McKie’s three-pointer with 3:05 remaining, but Chris Duhon answered with a trey at the other end to restore Chicago’s four-point cushion. The Bulls held a 91-87 edge in the final minute and sealed the win when Tyson Chandler converted a three-point play with just 11 seconds left.
The opening quarter was close and Chicago held a 27-25 advantage after 12 minutes of play.
The Bulls still held a 41-40 edge after Gordon’s three-pointer with 3:57 left in the second, but Philadelphia closed the period on a 15-6 run to carry a 55-47 cushion into the locker room.
Iverson led all scorers with 24 points at the break, while Harrington paced Chicago with 14 points.
The Bulls would slice into the lead in the third quarter and they trailed 71-67 heading into the final 12 minutes.
