NBA Game Summary - Denver at Seattle

Seattle, WA (Basketball News) - Carmelo Anthony poured in 33 points as the Denver Nuggets edged the Seattle SuperSonics, 120-112, in overtime action at KeyArena.

Kenyon Martin added 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Nuggets, who have won two straight. Andre Miller chipped in 21 points and dished out nine assists.

Ray Allen led Seattle with 34 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field as the SuperSonics dropped their fifth game in the last six overall. Damien Wilkins had a double-double with 21 points and 10 boards.

The Nuggets started the overtime with an 8-2 run to take a 110-104 lead. Eduardo Najera’s layup inside off a feed from Miller capped the spurt.

With Denver leading by six points, Luke Ridnour missed a running jumper inside with 36 seconds left. Ridnour then fouled Anthony, who pulled down the rebound, and hit both shots from the line to give Denver a 114-106 advantage.

Anthony then sealed it down the stretch, hitting four consecutive shots from the charity stripe.

"It always come down to the wire when we play here," said Anthony. "It’s a tough place to play, but we pulled it out."

Trailing for most of the contest, Seattle opened the fourth quarter with a 9-0 spurt to take an 83-80 lead.

The game went back-and-forth until Denver took a 102-100 lead with 30.4 seconds left after Miller hit two free throws. On the other end, Wilkins answered with a fadeaway jumper to tie things up with 10.1 seconds left on the clock.

Holding for one last shot, Earl Boykins drove to the lane and kicked the ball out to Greg Buckner, who missed an open three-point attempt, sending the game into overtime.

"It was a well played game by both teams, but we played a little better," said Denver head coach George Karl.

The Nuggets took a 53-49 advantage into halftime with Anthony scoring 14 first-half points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor. Miller added 10 points, while as a team, Denver shot 51.2 percent from the field.

Denver outscored the SuperSonics 27-25 in the third period to take an 80-74 lead into the final quarter.

The Nuggets improved to 11-15 away from home this season...Boykins finished with 11 points off the bench for Denver...Seattle dropped to 12-14 at home this season...Sonics forward Rashard Lewis sat out with a right thigh injury...Ridnour had 15 points and eight assists.
