01.29.2006

Auburn Hills, MI (Basketball News) - Rasheed Wallace scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Detroit Pistons over the Los Angeles Lakers, 102-93, at The Palace.

Richard Hamilton added 20 points and Tayshaun Prince had 19 for the Pistons, who extended their season-best winning streak to 11 games. It’s the first 11- game winning streak since March 30-April 19 of last season.

Ben Wallace had 14 points and 13 boards and Chauncey Billups registered 10 points for Detroit, which has also won six in a row at home and improved to 20-2 at The Palace.

Kobe Bryant had 39 points to lead the Lakers, who had a two-game win streak halted. Chris Mihm added 16 points and 14 boards for Los Angeles, which began a seven-game road trip on a disappointing note.

The Pistons led 25-16 after 12 minutes of action and carried a 56-47 advantage into halftime.

Detroit then poured it on in the third quarter. After the Lakers drew within 60-53 on a Lamar Odom bucket, the Pistons scored nine straight points to begin a 20-5 run that eventually gave the team a 22-point cushion, 80-58, with nearly two minutes remaining.

Rasheed Wallace and Prince each had seven points during the burst, which allowed Detroit to coast into the fourth with an 84-63 advantage.

The Lakers cut the deficit to 100-93 on a Bryant three-pointer with 41 seconds left, but Los Angeles’ rally ran out of time.
