NBA Game Summary - New Orleans/Oklahoma City at San Antonio

San Antonio, TX (Basketball News) - Michael Finley scored 18 points on 4-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc, as the San Antonio Spurs routed the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets, 111-84, at the SBC Center.

Tim Duncan added 17 points and Tony Parker had 16 points and seven assists for the Spurs, who have won two in a row and four of their last five games.

David West scored 18 points for the Hornets, who have lost three of their last four games.

San Antonio closed the first quarter on a 15-2 run to take a 35-22 lead, as Finley hit a jumper and a three-pointer in the final minute of the period to highlight the surge.

The Hornets were able to cut the deficit to 49-41 on a 10-4 spurt in the second stanza. Speedy Claxton connected on a pair of free throws and a jumper, and Desmond Mason capped the run on a layup with 4:53 left in the half.

The Spurs countered with 15-3 streak to close the second quarter, including five points from Robert Horry and Manu Ginobili, and were up 64-44 at the half.

New Orleans/Oklahoma City was able to get as close as 14 points with 2:12 left in the third period, with the score 77-63 when West hit a jumper.

San Antonio scored the final five points of the quarter on buckets from Duncan and Ginobili and a free throw from Horry to take a 82-63 lead into the last frame.

The Spurs were just too strong and the Hornets could not mount a run to get back in the game.

San Antonio put the game away with a 14-2 run in the fourth quarter to make the score 103-71, capped off by a Finley three-pointer with 5:04 left in the game.

The Spurs shot 58.9 percent from the floor, compared to New Orleans/Oklahoma City, which hit on 41.6 percent of its shots...The Spurs connected on 11-of-15 three-pointers...San Antonio had 30 assists...Ginobili scored 14 points...Brent Barry netted 10 points...San Antonio outscored New Orleans/Oklahoma City in the paint 56-34.
